Whether the weather be Hot or not…..

BBQ mushroomsIt only seemed a few days ago that we were declaring ‘Spring had Sprung’.  Who would have known that Summer would be knocking on the door quite so soon and if you’re anything like me, you’re completely unprepared…no sun cream, sunhats (for the kids!) and the BBQ well and truly tucked away in the garage somewhere between the garden furniture and my summer wardrobe suitcase.

And so, after a few days of 20+ degrees in London I would like to declare Summer is here (she says with fingers crossed!),  RELEASE YOUR BBQ – let it see the Tulips and smell the May air!

Some members of the Purple Grape team have already got started and have had 3 BBQ’s already!  However who can blame Kate?  I too would have got started once I heard the menu: Homemade burgers, prawn kebabs, cheese and tomato flatbread followed by a healthy Eton Mess (replacing double cream with natural yoghurt).  Enjoyed with a selection of beverages which may have been an error come Monday morning….a refreshing cider and ice cold Prosecco – delicious.

And then I read our offering for BBQ’s 2015…oh my!  How am I meant to concentrate when I have images of:BBQ prawns landscape

  • Tiger Prawns glazed with Pimm’s, Pink Peppercorns & Chervil served with a Pink Peppercorn & Mint Dip (or ginger, lemongrass and garlic)
  • Tandoori marinated chicken, served with coriander raita
  • Garlic and Rosemary marinated lamb cutlets, served with a redcurrant jelly
  • Watermelon, cucumber, radish and feta cheese with mint and toasted almonds
  • Pimm’s jelly with cucumber sorbet and summer fruit salad
  • Fig and strawberry tempura with lemon verbena crème brûlée and strawberry sauce
  • Marshmallows of sour cherry and almond (apparently it taste like a cherry bakewell…)

saladHere’s hoping the PG Chef’s need a few practice runs and require my assistance as Official BBQ Taster.  I’m off to have a word now!
