It’s National Chocolate Week until Sunday so hopefully you’ve all been managing to eat as much chocolate as possible (without feeling too queasy of course). For us in the Purple Grape office it’s never a hardship to eat more chocolate, in fact it is harder to not eat chocolate, as I’m sure is the case in your office as well.  Or maybe that’s just me….

With the help of Chocolate Week you can find out all about what is good chocolate, it’s history and they have some delicious recipes as well. It also lets you know about all the different chocolatiers taking part in chocolate week around the country. You could trawl around all the different chocolatiers in your area.

For our clients who are looking to choose their menus for events, chocolate is always a classic choice for dessert as the majority of people like it – you can either just add a touch with some chocolate drizzled strawberries topped with a marshmallow or go all out with pots of black cherry chocolate trifle.  We have plenty of other ideas for your canapé and bowl food parties as well in our menus.

If you want to choose a spectacular dessert for a seated dinner then these ideas will really blow your guests away:

– Marbled Valrhona chocolate fondue served with strawberries, marshmallows, mini doughnuts, pineapple wedges and ginger biscuits

– Rich chocolate torte with Madagascan vanilla pod ice cream

– Bitter chocolate and chilli tart with Chantilly mascarpone and caramelized Satsuma

But who says chocolate just has to be for dessert – why not incorporate a savoury chocolate bowl into your event with our roast breast of magret duck with chocolate and orange sauce served over coriander and scallion crushed sweet potatoes.
